CNC TURNING · OUR SPECIALTY

Lathe work,
done right.
On the day you needed it yesterday.

Multi-axis CNC turning with live tooling and sub-spindle, backed by a cobot for lights-out automation. From one-off prototypes through 1,500+ piece production runs — all from one shop, one operator, one phone number.

Don't see your material? Ask. We source through local distributors and can quote with material in-hand within a few days for most specs.

03 / Who we work with

Three ways to send us a turning job.

FOR PRODUCTION BUYERS

Quoted fast. Shipped on time.

You'll get a real number from a real machinist — typically within 72 hours. We hold the lead times we promise. Cobot-loaded production keeps cutting after hours.

FOR ENGINEERS

DFM feedback before chips fly.

Send the model — we'll flag features that'll burn money before you cut a check. We'd rather lose the quote than ship a bad part.

FOR INVENTORS

From sketch to sample.

Show up with a napkin or a broken part. We'll talk through material, tolerances, and how to make it manufacturable. Then make it.

04 / Why The Shop

What you get that you don't get from a quote portal.

Direct line to the operator

Your call goes to the same person who quotes, programs, and cuts. No sales-engineer ping-pong.

DFM on the front end

Real conversation about material, tolerances, and trade-offs before chips fly. We'd rather lose the quote than ship a bad part.

Prototype + production, same shop

The prototype that gets approved is cut on the same machines that run the production batch. Same operator. Same tolerance.

No minimum-order math

One piece or 1,500+. No production-quote / prototype-quote split. No platform surcharges.

Honest lead times

Capacity is finite. We quote what we can hold — not what the queue depth pretends to allow.

Recognized parts after run #2

Repeat work moves faster every time. Setups saved, programs locked, drawings on file.

What CNC turning capabilities does The Shop offer? +
Multi-axis production CNC turning with live tooling and sub-spindle, plus a cobot for lights-out automation. Bar capacity up to 2-3/4″, chuck capacity up to 10″. Standard tolerance ±0.010″, capable to ±0.0005″. We do a fair amount of single-part loading work — drilling 18-8 stainless bolts axially, for example. Materials include carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, copper, bronze, alloy steel, titanium, Inconel, and engineering plastics.
Does The Shop do small-batch CNC turning? +
Yes. Batch sizes run from 1 piece to 1,500+. The same shop that quotes the prototype quotes the production run — at the same tolerance, on the same machines.
Can you do CNC prototype machining? +
Yes. If you don't need a 3D printed prototype, we can machine one instead — in the real production material, at real production tolerance. The path from prototype to first article to production is on the same machines, with the same operator.
How fast can I get a CNC turning quote? +
Typical response is within 72 hours of receiving a STEP file or PDF. Faster on rush. Quotes come from the operator who will actually cut the part — no quote bot, no platform-wide queue.
What are your lead times for CNC turned parts? +
1–3 weeks is typical for production turning, usually including material procurement. Prototype work can run 3–10 days. Rush options exist; we'll be honest about whether we can hit your date before we take the job.
Do you ship CNC turned parts nationally? +
Yes. Parts ship via UPS, USPS, freight, or local delivery. FedEx available upon request. Mobile line boring is regional (Orange County, New York), but turned parts go anywhere in the United States.

Send us your hardest turning job.

The one another shop won't quote, won't hold tolerance on, or won't return your call about. That's exactly the work we want.
